📖 Overview

Scholarships for Bangladeshi Students 2026 (Fully Funded)

“Fully funded” is the most abused phrase in scholarship marketing. Agents and low-quality blogs attach it to partial tuition discounts, to programmes that closed years ago, and to schemes that Bangladeshi citizens cannot actually apply for. This list takes the opposite approach. Every programme below is real, currently running, and open to citizens of Bangladesh, and every one covers the core costs of a degree — tuition, a living stipend, and in most cases flights and insurance as well. Where a programme has an important caveat (a work-experience rule, a return-home obligation, a stipend that is a contribution rather than full living costs), the caveat is stated in its entry, not buried.

The twelve programmes span the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, Turkey, Hungary, Japan, South Korea, China and Australia, and between them they cover bachelor’s, master’s and PhD study. Use the comparison table to shortlist by level and deadline, read the entries that fit you, then go deep with our destination guides — government scholarships for Bangladeshi students, Bangladeshi students in Turkey and Bangladeshi students in Europe — and browse the full scholarships directory for new calls as they open.

A note on two famous names that are not on the main list, for honesty. Vanier Canada no longer exists — the programme was discontinued, and its successor, the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship–Doctoral (CGRS-D, CAD 40,000 per year for 36 months), is aimed at students at Canadian institutions rather than being a classic apply-from-home full ride, so it is covered in our Canada guide instead. Destination Australia closed to new applicants in 2024; any list still presenting it as open is out of date. Australia remains on this list through Australia Awards and the Research Training Program (RTP), whose base stipend is AUD 34,315 in 2026 (AUD 35,550 in 2027) with a tuition fee offset — a genuine fully funded research route discussed under the Australia Awards entry below.

1. Türkiye Burslari — Turkey

The Turkish government’s flagship is the most complete bachelor’s-level offer on this list. It covers full tuition, university placement, accommodation, health insurance, a one-year Turkish language course, flights at the start and on graduation, and a monthly stipend currently listed on the official site at 6,500 TL (undergraduate), 9,500 TL (master’s) and 13,000 TL (PhD). Bangladeshi citizens are eligible at all levels; the window is fixed at 10 January – 20 February each year through the TBBS system, with age limits (under 21 / 30 / 35) and minimum scores (70% bachelor’s, 75% graduate, 90% for undergraduate health sciences). Beware stale third-party pages quoting 4,500 TL — those figures are superseded. Official site: turkiyeburslari.gov.tr. Full breakdown in our Turkey guide linked above.

2. Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters — Europe

The EU’s joint master’s scholarship funds a degree delivered across at least two European countries. The package covers participation costs (tuition and fees) in full and pays €1,400 per month for up to 24 months, with insurance arranged by the consortium; travel, visa and living costs are met from the allowance. All nationalities may apply — no Bangladeshi quota or nomination — and you apply directly to each consortium, mostly between October and January. A bachelor’s degree (or final-year status) and programme-specific English scores are the main gates. Official information: Erasmus+ programme pages.

3. Chevening Scholarship — United Kingdom

Chevening, the UK government’s global scholarship funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, funds a one-year taught master’s at any UK university: full tuition, a monthly stipend, economy return airfare, arrival and homeward allowances, and visa-related costs. Bangladeshi citizens are eligible, but the profile is specific: you need an undergraduate degree enabling UK postgraduate entry, at least two years’ work experience, applications to three eligible UK courses with one unconditional offer by the scheme’s deadline, and a commitment to return to Bangladesh for at least two years afterwards. Timing note for this cycle: applications for the 2027-28 Chevening round closed on 6 October 2026, so Bangladeshi readers in late 2026 should prepare for the following round, which typically opens in August. Official site: chevening.org.

4. Fulbright Foreign Student Program — United States

Fulbright is the United States’ flagship exchange award, and Bangladesh has a dedicated annual call run by the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka. The programme funds master’s study (one-to-two-year grants) for Bangladeshi professionals — the embassy particularly welcomes junior faculty and early- to mid-career staff of universities, research organisations, think tanks and NGOs — covering tuition, a living stipend, round-trip airfare, a settling-in allowance and health coverage. For the 2027-2028 cohort, the embassy’s announced deadline was 11 July 2026; the cycle repeats annually, so treat mid-year as your working deadline pattern and confirm each year’s call on the embassy site. Applicants must reside in Bangladesh, hold a strong bachelor’s record, and show TOEFL iBT around 79–80+ or IELTS 6.5+ level English. Official announcement: U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh.

5. MEXT Scholarship — Japan

Japan’s MEXT scholarship is one of the few fully funded schemes with a substantial undergraduate stream as well as research (master’s/PhD) categories. It exempts tuition, pays a monthly stipend — ¥117,000 for undergraduates and ¥144,000 (master’s) to ¥145,000 (doctoral) for research students, with a small regional supplement in designated areas — and provides round-trip airfare; undergraduates also receive a preparatory year of Japanese language education. Bangladeshi applicants apply through the Embassy of Japan in Dhaka (embassy recommendation) or via Japanese universities (university recommendation), with written examinations and interviews at the embassy stage. Deadlines are embassy-set each year, so monitor the embassy’s scholarship notices from early in the year. Official programme information: MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology).

6. Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) — South Korea

South Korea’s GKS (administered by NIIED) funds bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study with full tuition, a monthly living stipend (recent guidelines place graduate stipends at around KRW 1,000,000+ per month, with undergraduate amounts slightly lower during the language year — always confirm the current guideline figures), round-trip airfare, a settlement allowance, medical insurance and a funded year of Korean language training. Bangladeshi citizens are eligible through both the embassy track (via the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Dhaka, choosing up to three universities) and the university track (one university). Academic gates include a CGPA of at least 80% (or top-20% standing) and age limits (under 25 for undergraduate, under 40 for graduate in recent guidelines). Official portal: Study in Korea (studyinkorea.go.kr).

7. Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) — China

The CSC’s bilateral programme (Type A), run with the Government of Bangladesh, funds bachelor’s, master’s and PhD study at Chinese universities: tuition waiver, free dormitory accommodation (or an accommodation subsidy), comprehensive medical insurance and a monthly stipend set on the CSC scale (¥2,500 undergraduate / ¥3,000 master’s / ¥3,500 PhD in recent published scales — verify the current year’s scale in the official call). Bangladeshi applicants typically apply through the national nomination process (watch for the Ministry of Education / UGC announcements) and the CSC online system in the first months of the year. Chinese-taught programmes include a funded language year; a growing number of English-taught programmes require no prior Chinese. Official portal: Campus China.

8. Stipendium Hungaricum — Hungary

Hungary’s bilateral flagship lists Bangladesh as a sending partner. It covers full tuition, HUF 43,700 per month for bachelor’s and master’s students (doctoral: HUF 140,000 in the training phase, HUF 180,000 in the research phase), free dormitory housing or a HUF 40,000 monthly housing contribution, and medical insurance. Honest caveat: the taught-level stipend is a contribution toward living costs, and travel support depends on the sending-side arrangements for the year, so budget a personal top-up — it is fully funded on tuition and housing, lean on cash. Applications run November to mid-January with a Bangladeshi nomination step. Official site: stipendiumhungaricum.hu.

9. Australia Awards Scholarships — Australia

Australia Awards, the Australian Government’s development scholarship programme, includes Bangladesh among its partner countries and funds long-term study (principally master’s) at Australian institutions: full tuition, a fortnightly contribution to living expenses, return economy airfare, an establishment allowance of around AUD 5,000, Overseas Student Health Cover, an introductory academic programme and pre-course English where assessed as needed. It is a development award: applicants are assessed on professional and personal leadership and their commitment to contribute to Bangladesh, and awardees must leave Australia for at least two years after completing the award. Country-programme windows typically run in the first part of the year. For research degrees, the parallel RTP route (university-administered, open to all nationalities, base stipend AUD 34,315 in 2026 rising to AUD 35,550 in 2027 plus tuition offset) is the alternative if you are PhD-bound. Official site: australiaawards.gov.au; compare Australian universities via our University of Melbourne profile and the universities directory.

10. DAAD EPOS — Germany

Germany’s DAAD EPOS funds development-related master’s and PhD courses from a defined course list, at €992 per month (master’s) and €1,300 per month (doctoral), rising to €1,400 for doctoral candidates from February 2026 in current calls, plus travel allowance, insurance and possible rent/family supplements — in a country where the listed public programmes generally charge no tuition. The gates are the point: a bachelor’s completed within the last six years and at least two years of relevant post-degree professional experience. Fresh graduates are not eligible and should instead use Germany’s no-tuition route with other funding. Official site: daad.de.

11. Eiffel Excellence Scholarship — France

Eiffel is included with its caveat printed in the headline of its own entry: it pays a strong monthly allowance — €1,200 (master’s) / €2,100 (doctoral) at current rates — plus international travel under Campus France rules and other support, but it does not pay tuition. It earns its place on this list because French public-university tuition for Eiffel scholars is frequently low or waived by the institution, making the total package effectively full for many scholars — but “frequently” is not “always,” so confirm your institution’s fee position in writing before you rely on it. You cannot apply directly; French institutions submit candidates, with internal deadlines in the autumn. Official page: Campus France — Eiffel.

12. Commonwealth Scholarships — United Kingdom

As a Commonwealth citizen, a Bangladeshi applicant can access the UK’s Commonwealth Scholarship Commission schemes — principally Commonwealth Master’s and PhD Scholarships and the smaller Commonwealth Shared Scholarships — which cover approved airfare, full tuition fees and a monthly stipend, for study directed at development impact. Bangladeshi candidates typically apply both through the CSC’s online system and a national nominating agency route (the UGC in Bangladesh has served as nominator for the main schemes; check the current call for the exact arrangement), with calls generally opening in the autumn. Competition is intense and development rationale is scored heavily. These sit alongside Chevening as the UK’s two great fully funded doors for Bangladeshis; our UK destination guide walks through both.

How to Build a Fully Funded Application Plan

Twelve programmes are too many to chase blindly and too few to waste. A workable Bangladeshi application season usually looks like this:

  1. Sort by level and eligibility first. Bachelor’s applicants: Türkiye Burslari, MEXT, GKS, CSC and Stipendium Hungaricum are your realistic fully funded set. Master’s applicants without work experience: Erasmus Mundus, MEXT, GKS, CSC, Türkiye and Hungary. Master’s applicants with 2+ years of experience add Chevening, Fulbright, DAAD EPOS and Australia Awards. PhD applicants add Commonwealth PhD and RTP.
  2. Build one master document pack. Passport, all certificates and transcripts with English translations, IELTS result, CV, and two to three referees who know your work. Every programme above draws from this same pack with different packaging.
  3. Sequence by deadline, not by fame. The European autumn cluster (Erasmus Mundus, Eiffel institutional deadlines, Commonwealth) runs October–January; Turkey and Hungary close in January–February; CSC and Australia Awards run in the early months of the year; Fulbright Bangladesh closes mid-year; MEXT and GKS follow embassy calendars. A single missed month can cost a full year.
  4. Write one core story, adapted per programme. Your academic record, your field, and what you will do for Bangladesh afterwards is the spine of every strong application — but Chevening scores leadership, Fulbright scores U.S.–Bangladesh exchange value, Australia Awards scores development contribution, and Erasmus consortia score academic fit. Adapt the emphasis; never submit the identical essay twice.
  5. Keep a verification habit. Before submitting anywhere, re-open the official programme page and re-check the amount, deadline and eligibility list for your cycle. Every figure in this guide was verified at writing time, and every one of these programmes reserves the right to change its terms in the next call.

Documents Almost Every Programme Will Ask For

  • Passport and recent photographs.
  • All academic certificates and transcripts, with certified English translations where the originals are not in English (board and university documents from Bangladesh commonly need attestation for the nomination and visa stages — start early).
  • English proficiency scores (IELTS/TOEFL) at the level each programme sets; some programmes (Türkiye Burslari, CSC Chinese-taught routes) do not require them at application.
  • Statement of purpose / study plan and, for research degrees, a research proposal.
  • Recommendation letters — academic for study-focused schemes, professional for Chevening, Fulbright and EPOS.
  • Work-experience evidence where required (Chevening’s two years, EPOS’s two years, Australia Awards’ professional profile).
  • Medical certificate at the stage the scheme specifies (notably Stipendium Hungaricum and CSC).

Selection Tips and Common Mistakes

Committees funding full rides are buying outcomes, not need alone. The Bangladeshi files that win tend to show a straight line from past study, through the proposed degree, to a concrete contribution back home — in climate adaptation, public health, garments and textiles technology, energy, education or digital services, to name the sectors where Bangladesh’s case is naturally strong. They also show discipline: documents consistent across every form, deadlines beaten by weeks, and referees chosen for knowledge rather than seniority of title.

  • Mistake: applying to only one programme. Even excellent candidates face single-digit acceptance rates at flagship schemes; a portfolio of four to six well-matched applications is the rational response.
  • Mistake: trusting “fully funded” blog lists. Closed programmes (Destination Australia), discontinued ones (Vanier) and partial awards dressed as full rides waste real applicants’ seasons. Verify on official sites.
  • Mistake: ignoring return-home obligations. Chevening and Australia Awards both require roughly two years back home afterwards; Fulbright grantees are subject to the U.S. J-1 two-year home-residence rule in many cases. Enter these programmes with a plan that honours the condition.
  • Mistake: missing the experience gates. Chevening and DAAD EPOS both require two years of experience (EPOS counts it after the bachelor’s degree). Applications that ignore hard gates are screened out before merit is read.
  • Mistake: name and date inconsistencies. Passport, NID, board certificates and transcripts that disagree with each other are the most common Bangladeshi administrative failure — fix them at source months ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which fully funded scholarships can Bangladeshi students apply for in 2026?

The strongest verified options are Türkiye Burslari (Turkey), Erasmus Mundus (Europe), Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarships (UK), Fulbright (USA), MEXT (Japan), the Global Korea Scholarship (South Korea), the Chinese Government Scholarship, Stipendium Hungaricum (Hungary), Australia Awards and the RTP (Australia), DAAD EPOS (Germany) and, with its tuition caveat, Eiffel (France). Each entry in this guide links to the official source.

Which fully funded scholarships are open to Bangladeshi bachelor’s applicants?

Türkiye Burslari, MEXT (undergraduate), the Global Korea Scholarship (undergraduate), the Chinese Government Scholarship and Stipendium Hungaricum all fund first degrees for Bangladeshi citizens. Most famous Western schemes (Chevening, Fulbright, Erasmus Mundus, DAAD EPOS, Australia Awards) are postgraduate only.

Do fully funded scholarships require IELTS?

It depends on the programme. Chevening itself removed its English-test requirement (universities still set their own), Türkiye Burslari imposes no blanket IELTS rule, and CSC Chinese-taught routes do not require it — while Fulbright Bangladesh expects TOEFL iBT around 79–80+ or IELTS 6.5+, and most Erasmus Mundus consortia and Australian programmes set explicit English thresholds. Always check the specific call.

Is the Türkiye Burslari stipend really 6,500 TL for undergraduates?

Yes — the official Türkiye Scholarships site currently lists 6,500 TL per month for undergraduates, 9,500 TL for master’s and 13,000 TL for PhD students. Some blogs still show the older 4,500 / 6,500 / 9,000 TL set; that set is superseded. Confirm the figures on turkiyeburslari.gov.tr when your cycle opens, as amounts are revised between cycles.

Can I apply for several fully funded scholarships at the same time?

Yes. These programmes are run by different governments and funders, and parallel applications are normal practice. You may accept only one award for the same study period, and some nominating processes (for example Bangladesh’s channels for CSC or Commonwealth) expect you to withdraw from competing nominations once selected — follow each scheme’s instructions when offers arrive.

What CGPA do I need for a fully funded scholarship?

There is no single threshold. Hard floors exist in places — Türkiye Burslari requires 70% (bachelor’s) or 75% (graduate), GKS expects roughly 80% or top-20% standing — while Chevening, Fulbright and Erasmus Mundus assess the whole file. In practice, successful Bangladeshi applicants to flagship schemes usually hold first-class honours or a CGPA around 3.5/4.0 and above, plus evidence beyond grades.

Are there fully funded scholarships without work experience?

Yes. Erasmus Mundus accepts final-year students and new graduates; MEXT, GKS, CSC, Türkiye Burslari and Stipendium Hungaricum do not require professional experience. The experience-gated schemes are Chevening, Fulbright (professionally oriented), DAAD EPOS and Australia Awards.

Do any of these scholarships guarantee a visa?

No scholarship guarantees a visa. Award letters strongly support student visa applications, and most programmes guide their scholars through the process, but the visa decision always belongs to the destination country’s authorities. Any agent promising a guaranteed visa alongside a scholarship is misrepresenting both.
